Before you go
Friendly and conversational; pubs are social hubs and "craic" (good fun) is prized. Irish and English are official.
Do
- Take turns buying a round in a pub if you are in a group
- Bring layers and a rain jacket
- Tip around 10% for table service
Don't
- Don't confuse Ireland with the UK — they are separate countries with separate visas
- Don't assume a Schengen visa lets you in
- Don't bring up sensitive Northern Ireland politics casually
